“It was quite a relief! War was over and I survived it!” John Robson

John Robson sat down with Pete Bleakly and generously shared his story about his dynamic and extensive life, which was spent living across the Earth’s oceans.

His life at sea began in 1938 when at the tender age of 19, John was a Navigator on armed merchant ships during World War II where he fought bravely against opposing forces.

His success on the war front at sea quickly saw him rise through the naval ranks and travel across the world ….across European, Asian and Australian waters …before returning to shore in Northern Ireland to spend much deserved time with his loved ones.

John’s experiences and credentials ultimately resulted in him becoming Captain of the Ulster Division and Chairman of the Sea Cadets of Northern Ireland.
