Held in Belfast City Hall on Friday 4th March 2011, this is the first event as part of the Northern Ireland Pensioners Parliament.
The Pensioners Parliament, which is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland, allows older people from across the province to have their say on the issues that matter to them.
Organised by Age Sector Platform, the Parliament will empower older people here to make their voice heard, and will ensure that it is listened to.
These local parliaments will take place in Belfast, Enniskillen, Ballymena, Armagh, Omagh, Derry/Londonderry and Newry.
Topics discussed include fuel prices, winter allowance, carers, social care and health, income levels for pensioners and community saftey. Those taking part include: Anne Watson, Bill Carson, Francis Hughes: Ivan Baxter from Age Sector Platform. Gillian Ardis: Department of Justice, John French: Consumer Council, Margy Washbrook: Engage with Age, Michael Monaghan: Pensioner Parliament Committee, Pat Austin: National Energy Action(NI), Sandra McCarry: Belfast Health & Social Care Trust and Seamus Lynch, AgeNI.
