“Well you see the trouble about growing older is you don’t think you are any older. A friend of mine said you don’t think you’re old until you look in the mirror. The answer is not to look in the mirror!” Patricia Donald
Formed originally in 2011 as part of an Age Sector Platform Initiative to give older people a voice in Parliament, 2013 marked the third year of the Pensioners Parliament.
With a membership base of 35 older people’s organisations and networks which represent approximately 200,000 older people across Northern Ireland, Pensioners Parliament is a shining example of democracy with
actions in which real people voice real concerns and have the opportunity to question and change actions in government.
The aim of the organisation is to create a society in which older people’s voices are heard, respected and acted upon, with issues discussed ranging from the cost of heating, individual safety to the joys of growing old.
