Situated in the former DeLorean factory premises, Studio 23, became one of Belfast’s most important artists resources. Mo McDevitt, the Studio’s Manager, founded the studio starting from scratch. It housed photographers, ceramists, a contemporary jeweler and visual artists whether established or emerging. Mo describes the origins of the studio, her own arts background and the Studio’s outreach projects with a local youth group.
Donnie Wright, photographer, Clinton Kirkpatrick, visual artist and Jill Graham, contemporary jeweler, give an insight into their work and their plans for the future.
On location in Ardoyne, Clare McComish, a ceramist based in Studio 23, puts the finishing touches to a ceramic mural, collaboration between the artist and community as part of the Re-Imaging Communities Programme. After severe flooding the studio moved to premises in Belfast.
